Atlanta Cycling offers multiple group rides leaving our stores almost everyday throughout the year. These rides take place in the evenings during the week and in the mornings on Saturday and Sunday. The weekday rides are generally 20-25 mile rides and take about an hour and a half to complete. The weekend rides vary from 40-65+ miles depending on the ride options you choose and can take 2.5-4 hours.
Safety is a primary function of these rides.
These rides are not designed to drop riders. Rides are ridden at as close to a steady tempo as traffic and the route allows, not too fast, not too slow. There may be portions of the ride where riders can "attack" but fear not, should you decide today is a rest day for you or you're in a "spot of bother" the group will regroup. These rides are designed to be fun and enjoyable while providing a challenge. We typically average about 18 - 20 miles per hour, shop to shop. There are designated “beginner' rides that will average 14 – 16 miles per hour. Maps are available on our website for most of the rides, both text and interactive. Print one and put it in your pocket if you're unsure of the route. Please ride safely and obey all rules of the road.
We try our best to ride double or single file at all times. Pay attention, stay awake, don't daydream about the glory days. We have some of the best rides in the Southeast. There is no entry fee--just show up with your bike, a good attitude, and a few essentials listed below.
We do not have many rules, and if you will follow the guidelines below, you will have an enjoyable ride. Ride two abreast whenever possible, especially when first departing. Obey all rules of the road. (Red lights and stop signs). If the pack splits on a red light, don't worry (be happy), we'll regroup. We may go single file from time to time for safety reasons or other reasons. Keep your eyes and ears open.
Helmets - HELMETS ARE MANDATORY. Also, bring money, food, drink, spare tubes, and adequate clothing.
Bring a road bike - These rides are intended to be ridden on a road bike. A hybrid or mountain bike is not appropriate on these rides.
You ride at your own risk. You assume all risk of injuries. You are expected to ride safely at all times. Look out for the other person. You undertsand that sometimes crashes happen.

Please show respect to motorists. Please show respect for the communities we cycle through by not littering, being careful where you pee, and obeying ALL RED LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS.

From I-20W exit at Fulton Industrial; turn south for 12 miles (last 4 are 2-lane) to the intersection of Fulton Ind (GA-70) and GA-92. Right at the light. One block right and park along roadside. |Wednesday 12-18-13||6:30 pm||Christmas Lights Ride - Join us for our annual ride from the Vinings store to see the local Christmas Lights. PURELY OPTIONAL - Bring an unwrapped toy of any value to be donated to Peachtree Christian Church's outreach program. This church's Senior Pastor, Barry McCarty, rides with us frequently and prays for our rides to be safe ... when he's not attacking various Strava sections. Atlanta Cycling will give each toy donor a discount coupon in appreciation. LIGHTS - Riders won't need powerful lights to see, but please insure that "be seen" flashing lights are mounted front and rear so that we may see each other and be seen by motorists. Dress warmly since we will ride at a very modest pace. Sag vehicle will follow the group. Dinner following at NY Pizza Exchange in Vinings at the railroad tracks.
