Bontrager calls the Race Mountain WSD Shoes their entry-level model, but there's nothing entry-level about the features. They're a little less stiff than full-on race shoes, giving them better walkability and making them great for mountain biking, touring and commuting. The Races feature breathable InForm uppers with 3 secure Velcro straps for dialing in the perfect fit. You also get molded heel cups for additional comfort and support.
In order to mount your pedals' cleats to your shoes, they must have matching bolt patterns. There are 3 configurations (diagram) used on cycling shoes, SPD-R, Look/SPD-SL and SPD. Road shoes feature one, two or even all three of these. Mountain-bike shoes usually use the SPD pattern. If you have any questions about cleat compatibility, please contact us. We're here to help!
